How Can You Avoid Repetitive Behaviors in Autism?

Repetitive behavior is something that Alex does daily. More especially with numbers and phrases…almost to the point of getting angry if he thinks we don’t hear him. We have tried, and still trying to break this cycle. It does get irritating and monotonous, but we never want to start tuning him out. He does show a lot of social skills and independence in some areas, so we don’t want to discourage that, either.
