Way back in 2005, I rode a small two-car train in the rural countryside of Fukushima (Fukushima Line, I believe), from Koriyama to Fukushima. I had always thought all the trains were as big, modern and busy as the ones in Tokyo…but I soon learned different. There’s something nostalgic about the rural trains, and I hope they will continue on for decades to come. It would be sad to see them disappear.
