Emperor Meiji of Japan (Mutsuhito)

Japan has a new emperor…and a new era (the “Reiwa” era, meaning either “fortunate” or “auspicious” and “peace” or “harmony”) has begun. There was certainly alot of media coverage of the event and attended by VIPs from all around the world.

The ascension ceremony itself was very elaborate and adhered to Japan’s century-old traditions. You can watch the full ceremony here:

I can probably imagine the ascension ceremony for Emporer Meiji being just as formal…but without the media and foreign guests. As a matter of fact, his ascension ceremony was short.

The story of how Mutsuhito became Emporer Meiji (at the age of fourteen) is something to be shared. He was the architect of the Meiji restoration after the last shogun lost power in 1868. As you will read, Emporer Meiji, made dramatic changes to Japan…carried on to this day.

Southern Voices

At my last count, there were thirty-two regional dialects around America. That’s a lot. Maybe some phrases or words are shared between dialects, but there are still distinctive words that only locals know. I myself am from Alabama (Roll Tide!), two states below the area in the video below, and I still heard a lot of new words, except for “yall” and “yonder”.

For a little comparison (cause i ain’t that schooled in dialects, yall), I trolled around YouTube, to find a good example of my Alabama dialect so that you could see the difference between just these two regions:

Could you hear the difference? Actually, I have heard stronger accents than Maddison’s…where people talk much slowar, chewin’ thair words a little bit. Nonetheless, watching Maddison made me homesick.

Enjoy both videos…and don’t forget to subscribe!!

Malawian Teen Taught Himself How To Build A Windmill For His Villiage…From Junk

An incredible and inspiring young man. He is a credit to his family and village! If there is anything to take away from this, it’s that you should never hold back or give up on helping your fellow man, no matter how big or small you can contribute.

Also, I hope this act of love will be a wake-up call to those who can reach out to under-developed areas…such as musician Akon has done, and help where they can.

What is Autism?

“Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. We now know that there is not one autism but many types, caused by different combinations of genetic and environmental influences.” – Autism Speaks.org

Signs of autism usually become apparent around the age of 2 or 3, with one or more of the signs mentioned above. Early intervention and diagnosis is essential, as well as early treatment. Hand in hand with treatment and education, there are many support groups out there…so that you and your family don’t have to be alone in this, and help you realize there is still a bright future ahead.
